MDV should not be merged with Merek's Disease. Main (and not the only) reason is separate article o MDV will help virologists understand virus better and help pathologists to understand pathology of the virus better. Sometimes it is confusing for novice readers to understand and they are often confused between the two. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.233.36.41 (talkcontribs)

I think having separate articles only makes sense when there in enough distinct information on each topic. Consider how it is done for Rabies: The main page describes both the virus and the disease. There is a separate page for Lyssavirus which describes the family of viruses of which Rabies virus is a member. It has links to subpages for those viruses, but in the case of Rabies virus, it is just a redirect back to Rabies because there is a one-to-one correspondence between the virus and the disease. If Marek's disease had other causes besides MDV, or if MDV caused other diseases, then it would make sense to separate them. —Dgiest c 20:53, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
